Welcome to my garden

There are so many jewels in my garden... rich soil, flowers, veggies and herbs, birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, ladybugs, seeds sprouting, the sound of the water fountain, but the best jewels are family and friends when they join me in the garden and share in the peace and beauty of what our Heavenly Father has provided me with. So many jewels, so many blessings. Julie +: )

Unexpected outing to Malibu Beach

Sooo, this past weekend David drove to CA to join me at Michelle's. Saturday morning he and I went to Home Depot to buy herbs and pots for Michelle's garden when she called and asked if we were up for a spur of the moment drive to Malibu Beach...well yeah!!
You see her Dan and my David are BIG Blues fans and Key Frances was performing on the pier at Malibu Beach. So we headed back to unload all the goodies we bought for her and loaded up the kids and drove there. Now this is just two days after Michelle's chemo. She felt torn about going because she was feeling so tired and achy. She really wanted to go but she wasn't sure if she was up to it. She knew how much it meant to Dan and how much Nathan would enjoy it and David too and Dan didn't want to go without her. So this girl sets her feelings aside and is willing to go.
Whenever she felt exhausted, she would go to the car and sleep. This girl is truly amazing! When most of us would want to just stay home and in bed she keeps on living a full life doing the things that she and her family love to do. She continues to fight this cancer and not allow it to control her life. She inspires me with her determination and strength that I know comes from her faith in God... that He is looking out for her and taking care of her!

So back to this concert...

David and Dan's love for blues music has rubbed off on not just Michelle and I but Nathan absolutely loves the blues! I think he enjoyed the music more than anyone there. He strummed to the beat and knew some of the songs.

It didn't go unnoticed by those around and by the band.

They were so impressed that they have a 4-yr old fan!

We had appetizers and enjoyed a wonderful dinner!

David and Dan enjoyed their shrimp dogs.

We had a such a great time.

walked the pier

and walked along the beach

until dusk and then we headed back home.

These spur of the moment trips are the best!!

  1. How fun and glad Michelle was able to go and still rest when needed. Some of the best times are those unplanned! I have to ask...what is on the napkin in front of Michelle and Megan? I hope that wasn't food!??? :)
