Welcome to my garden

There are so many jewels in my garden... rich soil, flowers, veggies and herbs, birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, ladybugs, seeds sprouting, the sound of the water fountain, but the best jewels are family and friends when they join me in the garden and share in the peace and beauty of what our Heavenly Father has provided me with. So many jewels, so many blessings. Julie +: )

One Scan at a Time

Michelle's pet scan in May did not detect any cancer! Praise God! She was given a 6 week break from chemo and had another scan and again it came back showing no cancer! After 2 and a half years of chemo she is getting a much needed break. As destructive as chemo is, it does destroy cancer cells.  So I am thankful for the chemo, thankful for the knowledge of medicine that God gives man, thankful for Michelle's faith and courage, and thankful to all who have lifted her in prayer.

She can continue her chemo break with a ct scan the end of August and we continue our prayers for her as she enjoys her normal.
Love, her Momma +: )

May I have a drum roll please

The scan results have been revealed.
But I think Michelle should be the one to blog about it first.
Some of you already know.
But I still can't blog it before she does.
I cried.
(: happy tears along with a happy dance :)
thank you Jesus

ps...Happy Birthday Dan

Praying for a clear scan

Michelle has been on chemo for two years now. The first year for breast cancer and the second year in her lungs. Her last scan showed the cancer decreasing in size. This morning she is having a pet scan and we pray for amazing results. Please lift her in prayer. I thank you for all the prayers and support. God bless +: )
From Psalm 91
"You have the Lord for your refuge;
you have made the Most High your stronghold.
No evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent.
For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways.
With their hands they shall support you,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the asp and the viper, trample the lion and the dragon. Whoever clings to Me I will deliver;
whoever knows my name I will set on high.
All who call upon me I will answer; I will be with them in distress;
I will deliver them and give them honor.
With long life I will satisfy them and show them
My saving power."

Happy New Year!

Jesus Calling
Sarah Young
January 1, 2013
"Come to Me with a teachable spirit, eager to be changed.
A close walk with Me is a life of continued newness.
Do not cling to old ways as you step into a new year.
Instead, seek My Face with an open mind, knowing that your journey with Me involves being transformed by the renewing of your mind.
As you focus your thoughts on Me, be aware that I am fully attentive to you.
I see you with a steady eye, because My attention span is infinite.
I know and understand you completely;
My thoughts embrace you in everlasting Love.
I also know the plans I have for you: plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Give yourself fully to this adventure of increasing attentiveness to My Presence".  Jesus

Summer Garden

After losing all my spring flowers my garden was looking bare. Living in Arizona you'd think I would just give up on gardening during the hot summer months of the usual 110-115 degree weather. Not much will grow but a few that will are vinca, portulaca, zinnias, and marigolds. So I made a trip to the nursery and also came home with a few I had not tried before... angelonia, pentas and lisianthus.

Since I didn't buy enough plants to fill the flower beds,  I decided to plant these in pots. They made it through the summer and actually thrived thanks to automatic daily watering.

My vegetable garden went wild. I was gone a lot and it was ignored. I don't think you are supposed to ignore vegetable gardens. If you do, they will make you pay. I had vines growing everywhere. Not knowing what it was I let them grow. I found out I was growing cantaloupe.
 I never know what will come out of my compost.
Because this vine overtook the vegetable garden I was afraid to step into it. I wish I had taken a before picture. I finally got the nerve to clean it out and was surprised to not find any creatures living under there.

Gardening is therapeutic for me. The harder I work out there the better I feel or should I say forget, and I needed it since I was letting worry overcome me. This round of Michelle's chemo treatment was leaving me feeling helpless and worried. Click HERE for an update.

So I was happy to tackle the cleanup. I pulled and raked and trimmed and dug and before the end of the day it was looking pretty good.
Under all the mess, I found I still had rosemary, tomato plants, new green beans sprouting, swiss chard,
eggplant, bell peppers, sweet basil, and more eggplants
I have about 8 eggplant volunteers (thanks to the compost).
Be ready family and friends. Get your eggplant recipes out!
In my smaller vegetable gardens, I have hatch chiles...
  boxwood basil
I trimmed the overgrown oregano
I also have marjoram, thyme, mint, jalapenos & chives
and now that our weather is cooling down,
I have room to plant lettuce, spinach, cilantro, parsley...
and I'm going to try beets for the first time!
And when I get back from Michelle's I will be filling up my flower beds!!
So happy summer is over!!!

Stay calm and head to the beach...

~with Michelle, Nathan, and Megan~
De-clutter your mind of plans,
schedules,
and "to do" lists.
Instead,
 look out upon the waves,
wiggle your toes in the sand,
absorb the sights, smells, and sounds,
and enjoy the moment for what it is-
not what it means,
not what lies ahead,
not how you arrived here.
There will be another time for that.
For now,
just be present with Him.

Isaiah 41:10

Isaiah 41:10
Do not fear: I am with you;
Do not be anxious: I am with you;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

I lean on God's words because I have none of my own. I can only continue praying and asking for your prayers for Michelle. For updates read  Here  and Here.

Happy Birthday Daughter!!!

35 years ago right now I had no idea that tomorrow, Aug 19, I would be giving birth to a daughter and my life would never again be the same. Before me was this tiny new person who would grow up to be the most unique, most amazing, most beautiful woman that I know! Through our talks as she grew up, I learned about myself, about life, about God. She thought I was teaching her, but little did she know that she was teaching me. Through her, I have become a better mother, a better grandmother, a better friend, a better person. Her faith has strengthened my faith. Her courage gives me courage. Her beautiful face & her beautiful smile brings me so much joy. We have been by each other's side through so many good times and some really rough times. All that know her know what a special person she is!
Happy Birthday Michelli!
I love you with all that I am!

In His due time...

The results were not what we expected.
 I was disappointed and I know Michelle was too.
I was disappointed because my expectations were too high.
Dear Lord... I have been praying for your healing touch on Michelle, forgive me for not recognizing Your hand in this. Your healing was there but I was expecting more so instead of praising you and thanking You, I doubted.
Her scan didn't show much change... all still there & the same size.
But... they didn't grow.
I was not focusing on that.
Only that they were still all there.
Several months have passed and the cancer has stopped growing.
I thank God for His healing touch on Michelle
in His due time and in His way...
1 Peter 5:6-11
"So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Cast all your worries upon Him because He cares for you. Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout the world undergo the same kind of sufferings. The God of all grace who called you to His eternal glory through Christ Jesus will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little. To Him be dominion forever. Amen".
He knows her suffering and He holds her in the palm of His hand.
He gives her strength to keep going
and I give Him praises for healing her in His due time.
I will continue praying that one day soon He will fully restore her health.
Dear Michelle, I know every day is difficult for you but I know you and I know you will keep being brave, you will continue trusting that Jesus is your strength, that you believe in His healing, and you will never give up.
I love you, Momma +: )
